Wimee’s Words Essay Contest
DFCU Financial is pleased to sponsor an essay competition themed, “What I Love the Most.”
Students 5 – 13 years old are invited to participate to try and earn a spot on Wimee’s YouTube and PBS show! We encourage all to share all the details of what they are the most passionate about—what they love the most, and why--in 500 words or less.

CONTEST GUIDELINES
REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION
- The contest is open to children who attend elementary school (ages 5-13) and who reside in lower Michigan.
- All submissions can be completed within the form below, attached as a PDF, or written and turned in at branch offices.
DEADLINE
Deadline for submission of entries is Feb. 28 at 5:00 PM. Late entries will not be accepted.
AWARD
Four entries will be chosen and winners notified by March 7.
As a bonus, a $100 deposit will be awarded to each winner. Each of four winning essays and writers will be featured on different Wimee shows during March. Winners must agree to be on camera and recorded for one of these shows. These segments can be recorded at the child’s home or from their local library.
HOW ARE THE ESSAYS JUDGED?
Entries are judged on the author’s ability to create a submission illustrating the “What I Love the Most” theme. Specifically, the panel of judges will consider interpretation of the theme, authenticity and originality, and overall writing ability.
